5 Things You Have Realised That Are True But Can’t Admit

Those things are told to you by the person who everyone on this earth will have, without whom it is not possible to get a life, Mother. Different people spend different amount of time. On the other hand, I spend most of my time at home with my mother, because she is always there. It is like living with your own personal version of Kiron Kher that you see in a typical Bollywood movie.

All through my life, I had heard many suggestions. Most of the time I deny it, sometimes I wonder if I may have been switched at birth at the government hospital as they are so radical. Other times I argue and ask not to be judgemental. We have like the same relationship that the Batman has with the joker, both of them complete each other.

So let’s dive into our list of 5 Things You Have Realised That Are True But Can’t Admit:

1. Siblings

All through my childhood, I have been hearing that ‘Wish, I was a girl and my elder sister was a boy’. My sister who has spent most of her childhood in boarding school leaving me the luxury of staying at home with my parents is very confident in her goals and achieving it. At this moment she is very successful at what she does in terms of career and taking care of a family which includes two children and in-laws.

On the other hand, I always knew what I didn’t want to become but I barely had or have any what I want to be. My argument was that why can’t she say that ‘I wish that you were the elder one’. When I think about it now I feel that she was correct and I cannot admit to my mother.

2. Oral Hygiene

Every night I was advised to gargle my mouth before I sleep. I was under the assumption that I have a great set of genes which will result in continuing the health of my teeth even though I do not take care of it. Now every time I visit the dentist which I bet is the number equal to the number of mechanics in your area, I think of the advice that I neglected.

I wish I was explained the amount of pain I had to endure while having a root canal and the cost of it back then, I would have taken the utmost care possible. I can also blame the education system for this. We were shown the basic structure of a tooth at an early age and the names of it.

Apart from these, I do not remember any importance given to it while it was important to dress well in the uniform and polish your shoes. These days I do see a change in the schools suggesting parents take the children to dental check up on a regular basis.

3. Education

You were alway told that education was important. And you were like ‘a piece of paper cannot decide what I am’. I agree to it to a certain extent, but there are many things which you cannot get into without a basic qualification as a requirement regardless of how talented you might be.

I also agree that in this day and age there are lots of fields which do give importance to it and there are many people who have achieved great things despite the hindrance. But you cannot argue that it is good to have a backup just in case. All the thing that you chose to do instead of putting that little effort are trivial when you look back.

4. Communication

In your place of work, you might have seen people who achieve or get recognized despite the presence of other people who are more deserving. There are different names for these people depending on which side you are on, some call it buttering, bucketing is one of the local terminologies or putting in effort where it is required and even favoritism etc.

What I would like to call it is marketing yourself, yes that’s the word I was looking for. Let’s face the fact that no one will come and recognize how extraordinary you are unless you tell it the right person in the right way. Things like hanging out with such people do matter in the long run.

I can only talk on behalf of myself in this matter, all through my life I have been pointed out for not being expressive enough, who minds his own business and goes about doing stuff without expecting anything extra in return. You cannot deny the fact that you might have been at a different level in the corporate ladder altogether if you had also included the right communication and socializing that you are expected to do.

5. Friends/People

There was a time when you believed that certain people were the most important in your life and you wanted to do anything that you are capable of, to make them happy or help them. Things change along with time and I bet that you do not a have each and every person that you felt important back then.

You get lots of temporary people in your life. I am left with a handful of people who stand by me no matter what, but lots of people do have to go their own way in life.

Your mother might nag, irritate or embarrass you but thats the only way that she knows how to express the love. The only other person is the one who says that your stand is not folded when you are riding a two wheeler (Source Facebook).

P.S: Next time you see a list of things (7 thing or 23 movies) online, it is not the exact number that was set out to be written unless it is multiple of five. Like the joke when you write etc in the exam paper which actually means the end of thinking capacity.
